About Us

The Matrix Gaming Centre is an internet, LAN (local area network) gaming facility which offers hundreds of games on state-of-the-art computer systems to ensure the greatest gaming experience. We offer competitive hourly rates and group rates making The Matrix the ideal place to host an event or party.

What is LAN Gaming?

LAN (Local Area Network) is a series of computers connected together within a local area for the purpose of communicating and sharing resources. For gaming, there is no greater experience socially than the LAN experience: Friends and gaming rivals can gather together to team up and compete in a shared virtual digital world.

What started as a home LAN party with 5 computers on a cold winter night in February 2000 culminated in the birth of our addiction and passion for gaming. Over the course of the next two years we hosted numerous all night LAN parties that grew in size in Mark’s basement. Then in the spring of 2002, work began on a business plan and seven months later, after the banks turned us down, we decided to go ahead anyway and we bootstrapped ourselves in and turned a dump into a mecca of gaming.

The company was founded in March 2002 by Mark Lloyd and Scott McGillivray, and was subsequently incorporated under the name, The Matrix Gaming Centre Ltd on June 27, 2002. Our first location opened on November 30, 2002, in a 2,300 sq. ft. facility located in Regina, Saskatchewan at 566 McIntyre St.
